Gumboot friday

On the 5th of April it was Gumboot Friday.  Some people where wearing Gumboots and some people didn’t. Gumboot Friday is about Mental health and Mental health is about when your feeling good about yourself. In Te Waka Ako we wanted to send nice cards around our community because we wanted to make people feel good about themselves too! We wrote nice kind things and put them on Cards. I thought it was really nice to send people cards because sending the world new things is special. My Card said “Angels fly to the moon and back.” next day we got an email/call about this lady that told us her son got a card and it change his life completely. We got into groups and got into partners and went off. We did one card each house, each person. Thanks to Neeve’s idea we made people happy. This relates to our Inquiry topic which is HAUORA - WELLBEING. See ya later!

Christchurch

Hello guys today I'm going to tell you about Christchurch.

There are thousands of people that have donated for the people who have died. We have heard the gunman is now in jail. We are trying to stop racism because it's really sad seeing people getting mocked for their culture. Some people are donating their money to the families in Christchurch. We planted a Kowhai tree and put soil in it to make it grow. We sang a song to tell everyone that you cant hurt people who are different. Some of us made cards for those people who helped like the police, the ambulance, the hospital, the mosques and the schools who were in lockdown.

It was a terrible event that we all hope never happens again.

it’s time to meet our new seniors. Forget that there are new updates in Waikowhai Primary School. Every Friday: the Assembly is now every morning on Friday. Every Tuesday and Thursday: Cameron Pools swimming. Amazing new teachers for the seniors: Mrs Jones, Miss Daly, Ms sands, Miss McGrath Feel safe at Waikowhai, we don’t want our kids being unsafe and being in the wrong place at the worst times in the school. Anyways new leaders for leadership and jump jam. Oh yes I forgot…. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! 2019 has arrived everything changed since last year! Goodbye 2018 hello 2019.
